Then you sat down in Resolve and scrubbed through forty minutes of footage looking for the good takes — retyping, re-listening, re-cutting work your script already described. mslAutoCut closes that loop. What it does
mslAutoCut turns a folder of raw take recordings into a review-ready DaVinci timeline. It transcribes your audio locally, matches what you said against the script you wrote, groups your repeated attempts into takes, lays them out in order on the timeline, and colours the strongest take of each batch yellow — so all that's left is to listen, keep, and delete.
Inside the panel
- Script Source — import the AutoCut JSON exported from mslScript. Shows line and word count.
- Clip / Source — pick your recording from the Resolve media pool. Shows duration, frame rate, resolution.
- Transcription Status — waveform display, duration, word count, confidence score. Runs in the background: DaVinci stays responsive.
- Batch Detection — a full take table: Take ID, In Point, Out Point, Duration, Status (Good / Review), Recommended marker.
- Workflow rail — five tracked steps: Import Script → Transcribe Audio → Detect Batches → Review & Promote → Create Timeline.

On the timeline
- Every take becomes its own clip, named
bNNN TNN(batch, take) — sortable, searchable, unambiguous. - Red timeline markers separate each batch.
- Recommended takes coloured yellow. "Create Selected Timeline" keeps only the yellow ones.
- Frame-accurate: source in-points use the clip's frame rate; timeline positions use the timeline's frame rate. Mixed-frame-rate projects handled correctly.

How It Works

Write it in mslScript
Build your script in mslStudio HUB as always. Export the teleprompter version to read from — and the AutoCut JSON for the panel.
Record your takes
Read your script to camera. Repeat lines as often as you like. Say "ZULU DELTA" out loud between each batch — that's your marker.
Transcribe
Open mslAutoCut in Resolve, load the JSON, pick your clip, hit Transcribe. Runs in the background while you keep working.
Review the takes
mslAutoCut lists every take it found, groups them into batches, recommends the strongest in each.
Build the timeline
One click assembles the full timeline — takes in order, batches marked, recommended takes in yellow.
Keep, delete, done
Listen through, delete what you don't want, and you're at a publishable edit. That's the 75%.

The Trick
Two Words. That's the Whole System.
Software can't reliably hear the difference between a clap, a plosive, and a pause. So mslAutoCut doesn't try. Instead, you simply say two words out loud — "ZULU DELTA" — between each batch of takes. The transcription finds those words, marks the boundary, and cleanly removes the marker from your timeline. It works every time, in any room, on any mic.
- Leave 2–3 seconds of silence at the start.
- Say "ZULU DELTA" only BETWEEN batches. Not before the first, not after the last. (N batches = N−1 markers.)
- Leave ~2 seconds of silence either side of the marker.
- Repeat each line as many times as you want, with a clear pause between attempts.
- That's it. Record naturally otherwise.
mslAutoCut cuts the marker out by anchoring on the surrounding SILENCE, not on the word's timestamp — so nothing gets clipped and no "Zu—" bleeds into your first take. If it can't find enough silence, it warns you rather than guessing.

Get It
Download mslResolve Tools.
Heads up: Windows will show you a warning.
When you run the installer, Windows SmartScreen will say it "protected your PC" and that the publisher is unknown. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Here's the honest reason: code-signing certificates are issued to registered companies. M SPACE LOG is one person, and I'd rather spend that money on building the tools than on paperwork. When the HUB grows enough to justify registering as a company, mslResolve Tools will be signed and this warning will disappear.
Until then: download only from mspacelog.com, and check the SHA-256 below if you want to be certain the file hasn't been tampered with.

Installing

Run the installer
Windows will warn you — click More info → Run anyway.
Sign in
Paste your activation token from your mslStudio HUB account page (Account → mslResolve Tools → Generate token).
Choose your tools
mslAutoCut is selected by default.
Let it install
The first run downloads the speech model (~250 MB). Happens once.
Open the panel
Open DaVinci Resolve Studio → Workspace → Scripts → Utility → mslAutoCut.
That's it
The panel opens already activated.

Activation, licensing & offline use
- Generate a one-time activation token on your mslStudio HUB account page. Shown once — copy it.
- Paste it into the installer. The panel is activated automatically; you never enter it again.
- The panel re-checks your licence periodically in the background.
- Offline? Keeps working for up to 7 days between checks.
- Lifetime plan holders never expire.
- Regenerating a token replaces the old one. Revoke it anytime from your account page.
Uninstalling
- Close DaVinci Resolve first (the installer will tell you if it's still running).
- Windows Settings → Apps → mslResolve Tools → Uninstall.
- Removes the Resolve panel, the engine, the bundled runtime, and your stored licence.
- The speech model (~250 MB) is left in your shared cache in case other software uses it. The uninstaller tells you exactly where, so you can delete it manually if you want the space back.
